Spring 2024 Newsletter
Christos Anesti! Christ Is Risen!
We hope you all had a beautiful Pascha celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Holy Week and Pascha were wonderful here on campus. Church was packed with our children, families, and our local community of the Orthodox faithful. Thank you to all who came out, helped set up, donated, worshipped, and celebrated with us. It was beautiful in every way.
This spring has been a busy and exciting time for us. Our children have been wrapped up in school, sports, plays, and extracurricular activities such as track and field, softball, fencing, gymnastics, music lessons, and of course the Greek parade! We are so proud of them, and it is an honor and a joy watching them grow and develop.
We are gearing up for graduation on June 22 which we hope you all can attend! This year we have 2 graduating seniors, 1 graduating middle schooler, and 1 pre-kindergartener moving up to kindergarten. As always, there will be special guests, delicious food (thanks to our friends at Pan Gregorian Enterprises!), performances, and more. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our children and all of their accomplishments. Please come if you can.
In other news, the Saint Basil Academy Year of Water is in full swing. In case you haven’t heard, last year we began a new tradition of designating a yearly theme for the whole campus. This year we are focusing on the important role that water plays in our lives, and we are committing ourselves as a community to promoting water safety and drowning prevention in a range of ways and formats. We are so proud to announce that Saint Basil Academy has been recognized by the Putnam County Legislature as a community leader in water safety! Make sure to visit our Facebook page to keep up with our Year of Water safety campaign and to learn more about drowning prevention and water safety best practices.
As always, thank you so much to all our friends and donors, especially the Philoptochos Society who has been our staunchest supporter over the past 80 years. The work we do here relies on your generosity, and we are extremely grateful.
Enjoy the rest of spring, and we hope to see you at graduation!
