Memory Eternal: Rev. Archimandrite Anthony Falsarella
Reverend Archimandrite Anthony Falsarella fell asleep in the Lord on May 20, 2023. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Falsarella, his brother, Joseph Falsarella, his sister Mary Louise Broadwell, and several nieces and nephews. Father Anthony was born on July 2, 1958 and grew up in Paramus, NJ. He was tonsured a monastic in April 1990 and ordained to the Holy Priesthood on August 10, 1990.
After arriving at Saint Basil Academy in 2005, Father Anthony served in many capacities. Not only was he Chaplain and Director of Operations, but he was also a skilled spiritual father, confessor, and mentor to many. He was fiercely devoted to the entire Saint Basil community and worked tirelessly on its behalf with faith and love.
In addition to his work at Saint Basil, Father Anthony traveled widely through Europe and frequently visited and served at monasteries there such as the Monastery of the Protection of the Mother of God in Bussy-en-Othe, France, the Mother of God Russian Orthodox Monastery in Privije, Belgium, and the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Monastery in Chevetogne, Belgium. He spoke multiple languages and had many friends across the globe.
Father Anthony was also a trained graphic artist and professional photographer with a particular interest in documenting Orthodox Christian monasticism in film and digital images (www.photomonk.org). Around campus he was known for his humor, his infectious laughter, and his great affection for dogs. He will be missed beyond measure by everyone at Saint Basil.
