July 2026 News & Updates
Dear Saint Basil Academy Friends,
Can you believe it is already August?!
We hope everyone had a beautiful 4th of July celebration, and have enjoyed the summer sun and fun this past July!
This July we kept busy with many exciting activities and events!
In the beginning of the month, a few of our staff traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to represent Saint Basil Academy at the national Clergy Laity Conference. We had many meaningful conversations with members of the Archdiocese. We hope to carry the theme of “Rise and Build” into our ministry.
After school ended, many of our children signed up for summer camp and have enjoyed participating in enriching activities while making friends with our neighbors in the community.
We have been busy hosting events on campus this summer, including an iconography retreat. Members of the Church came from all over the country to learn how to write icons. The iconography students were kind enough to teach what they learned to the children on campus, showing them how to make paint out of natural materials, and how to write icons in a prayerful manner. We were so blessed to have the students on campus filling our community with life and love.
Another event we hosted for a local group was scent training for dogs. Owners from around the area brought their dogs to teach them how to follow scent trails. Residents were excited to watch the dogs do their work, tracking the scent of essential oils hidden in different rooms and outdoor areas on the property.
The younger children under our care have enjoyed many exciting outings, traveling to water parks and local museums! We hope to continue exploring new places to have fun for the rest of the summer!
As August approaches, we are preparing our Bridge Program members for the start of the fall semester and, for some, the start of their college careers. We are so proud of our students and all of the hard work that they have done to further their education. We pray for their future success as they take this time in their young lives to focus on their academics!

Fun Fact!
Saint Basil Academy is launching the Gyro For My Hero project!
The Gyro For My Hero project is a way to get kids to look outside of themselves and towards their heroes! We want to inspire others to love their neighbor on campus, hoping this joy will spread across the archdiocese! If you want to participate, please take a picture with your hero and caption it “Gyro For My Hero!” Don’t forget to tag Saint Basil Academy on your social media post!

Support Our Work
As a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity, Saint Basil Academy depends upon the financial support of its beloved friends and donors. Our supporters contribute in many different ways, from monetary and material donations to naming Saint Basil as a beneficiary in life insurance and estate planning. Saint Basil Academy also has several earmarked funds in place for therapeutic art classes and outdoor excursions. Sponsoring a resident, becoming a host family, and/or referring a child to Saint Basil Academy are other vital ways of providing support as well.
