January 2026 News & Updates
Blessed Triodion, dear friends of Saint Basil! It’s hard to believe that we are already a month into 2026 and that Great and Holy Lent begins in just a few short weeks.

January has been beautiful (but cold!) here on campus. We have had record snowfall up here in Garrison with well over two feet of snow! Luckily our kids (and let’s face it, the grownups, too!) love playing in the snow, skiing, snowboarding, you name it. This month has been full of wintry activity and cold weather fun.

Sadly, winter storms and unsafe roads kept us from our usual January calendar of parish visits for Vasilopita season. So many churches, individuals, and other organizations have reached out to us over the past month, and we just want you to know how truly thankful we are! Although we did not get to travel much, our kids still got to enjoy Vasilopita season with our campus family, and they even made their very own Vasilopita under the expert guidance of Ms. Gav and Ms. Josephine!

We were so honored to host the Orthodox Volunteer Corps over the weekend for their mid-year retreat. This has become an annual tradition and one that everyone at Saint Basil looks forward to each year. If you are not familiar with OVC, definitely check them out. The work they do is nothing short of transformational, and they are a true inspiration to the whole Saint Basil Community.

On January 21, registration for our annual GOYA retreat opened, and spots are already starting to fill! We would love for any 7th–12th graders (regardless of whether they are in a formal GOYA group) to join us for an amazing day! Please register here for the GOYA retreat if you haven’t already.
Sending warmth to all during this snowy season!
With love,
The Saint Basil Academy Family

Support Our Work

Our supporters contribute in many different ways, from monetary and material donations to naming Saint Basil as a beneficiary in life insurance and estate planning. Saint Basil Academy also has several earmarked funds in place for therapeutic art classes and outdoor excursions. Sponsoring a resident, becoming a host family, and/or referring a child to Saint Basil Academy are other vital ways of providing support as well. When you give to Saint Basil Academy, you are helping a child in need in a powerful way.
