Fall 2024 Newsletter
Kalo Heimona, everybody!
Hopefully you all had restful summers, and fall is already off to a good start. Here at Saint Basil, everyone is busy getting back into the school routine, picking up with fall sports and activities, and enjoying the cooler days.
Our children had enriching and eventful summers full of travel and making lifelong memories at the various camps they attended. Two of our children attended Ionian Village, two went to Antiochian Village, and four went to Camp Saint Paul. We also had many children attend day camps and even a prestigious creative writing program! Their summer adventures culminated with the annual Ocean City, Maryland beach trip sponsored by our longtime friends and supporters from the St. George Greek Orthodox Church community of Ocean City. We are so proud of all our children and grateful that they get to have formative and meaningful summer experiences made possible through generous friends and supporters like all of you.
Earlier in the summer, we held a beautiful and well-attended graduation event and also celebrated 80 years since the founding of Saint Basil Academy! Saint Basil alum, Manny Fantis, delivered an incredibly moving keynote address, and our children gave graduate speeches, musical performances, and displayed colorful watercolor artwork along with a Year of Water drowning prevention campaign. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make the day possible: from the delicious food provided by Pan Gregorian Enterprises of New Jersey, to gifts from the National Philoptochos, Philoptochos chapters, DOP and AHEPA chapters, neighboring parishes, and so many individuals. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!
We hope that you will join us for the upcoming 2024 Saint Basil Walk-a-Thon on Saturday, September 21 from 11-2. The day will include a Blessing of the Waters, campus walk, cookout, lawn games, inflatable obstacle course, and more! There will be fun for all ages, and we would love to see you all there.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out. We love connecting with our extended Saint Basil family! May the prayers and intercessions of Saint Basil continue to guide and enrich all that we do.
See you at the Walk-a-Thon!
If, therefore, there is any grace in the water, it is not from the nature of water but from the Spirit’s presence there.
